Reflection

Jesus attracted many people, especially those who recognised their own need to change. Pray for the team and the FE initiative: that we might reflect the power of this attractive, yet challenging gospel. As the core team changes over the course of this summer, and many pioneers and Associate Missioners also face times of great change, prayer is vital.

The Spirit has led us into many new and expanding areas of work.  The team has grown in number, but how some areas of work will be covered remains unknown. Our resources are stretched, and in the gap between what is currently given and what we feel called to do, we ask for grace and God’s provision.

Prayer

Jesus, you draw and call us to yourself.

You invite us to be healed,

redeemed and changed

into your likeness.

Grant us the grace

to see you,

to love you,

to follow you.

Amen

THANKSGIVING

Fresh Expressions as a ‘movement’ continues to grow, with more people within the Church hearing about it and engaging with it through the training courses, vision days and Diocesan & District tours.

The launch of the mission shaped congregations DVD ROM in the near future will enable people in local churches to discover and explore it in their immediate community. And many fresh expressions of church are continuing to follow the Spirit’s lead in finding ways of helping folk who don’t go near a church to become more aware of God in their everyday lives, and to respond to the good news of Jesus.

We give thanks for the Board’s support for strategic appointments for Phase 2. Pray for Sheonagh Ormrod as she settles in to her appointment as full time administrator.  Give thanks for the appointment of Ben Clymo as our new Manager of Resources. Pray for the much-needed appointment of a senior writer/media officer and for the future appointment of the new team leader’s PA.

Give thanks for Bishop Graham Cray and pray for him as he settle into his work as Archbishop’s Missioner and Team Leader.

Diocese and District Synods Tour

Our tour of the country’s Diocese and Districts Synods continues throughout the autumn. Pray for those presenting stories of fresh expressions and for the Synod members, and for good communication of the vision; that more ‘permission-givers’ will grasp it and encourage, enable and resource fresh expressions of church in their areas.
