Andy Freeman joined the Fresh Expressions team in November 2010.
Andy Freeman is 41 years old and married to Karen. They have 5 kids and live in Reading, England. Many of his friends describe him as bald, left wing and in serious need of growing up... Andy believes they're entirely correct.
Andy spent his teenage years listening to Punk music and campaigning for groups like CND. After 8 years working in Overseas Development, he took full time posts as Youth Worker at St Paul's Salisbury and then at Greyfriars in Reading. This was a realisation of a major passion, one which still drives him - how to find ways of connecting young people to Jesus and to spirituality.
In 2001, Andy was part of the team that pioneered 24-7 Prayer's first Boiler Room community in a disused pub in Reading. He then spent 8 years helping other Boiler Rooms develop, and writing Punk Monk: New Monasticism and the Ancient Art of Breathing. He has travelled, spoken and written extensively - yet it is the joy on developing friendships and empowering others which is by far the most enjoyable part of his work with 24-7 Prayer. He now works with a team developing the Just 24-7 initiative within 24-7 and also is helping to shape the partnership between Fresh Expressions and 24-7 Prayer.
He is now a Pioneer Ordinand with the Church of England and is in the 2nd year of his training. He is working with others to plant the Reconcile Community, a 24-7 Community which is an Anglican fresh expression.
Andy loves reading (theology, Chesterton, Coupland, poetry), movies (Inception, Harry Potter, Crash) music (U2, Elbow, Sigur Ros, Temper Trap, Interpol). He especially enjoys watching and playing cricket and Arsenal football club.
