Karen Carter

Senior Writer and Media Officer

Karen Carter joined Fresh Expressions in October 2009 as Senior Writer and Media Officer.

Liverpudlian Karen has always been involved in journalism and public relations and she still loves meeting people, hearing their stories and passing the word on to others.

After starting her career as a reporter on Merseyside, Karen later specialised in theatre PR before moving to a south coast newspaper group to work in news and features. She became arts editor with responsibility for all entertainment content – including coverage of Brighton Theatre Royal, Chichester Festival Theatre and Worthing theatres.

She went on to be deputy editor of the Christian Herald and, after the newspaper's closure, returned to the North West for a while when appointed to BBC staff magazine, Ariel, as its first 'correspondent' for the north of England.

She is now responsible for Fresh Expressions' relations with the media as well as gathering stories for the movement's website and writing for journals, magazines and newspapers. Karen lives in Worthing, loves going to the theatre and is a trustee of the Church and Media Network.
