A Bishop's Mission Order is a device in the Church of England that allows a bishop to directly allow and support a church planting initiative that would cross parish boundaries or involve collaboration between parishes.
These have transformed the legal position of church planting in the Church of England, along with a Code of Practice to guide their implementation.
Fresh Expressions Area Strategy Teams (FEASTs) promote and establish fresh expressions of church in particular geographical areas.
We asked a training minister and his trainee pioneer to pass on their experience of working together.
Wondering how to support new forms of church?
In due course, this section will have resources for:
- ministers and lay leaders who want to support a fresh expression as part of their church's local mission;
- local churches that want to collaborate on fresh expressions;
- denominations that want to encourage fresh expressions as an aspect of their mission strategy.
We are gathering information about what has worked and what hasn't under each of these headings. If you are in a position to contribute, we would love to hear from you on firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are about to start a fresh expression, or are in the process of doing so, you might want to look at Starting and growing.
