A former journalist on the BBC's staff magazine, Ariel has been appointed Senior Writer and Media Officer for Fresh Expressions.
Karen Carter, also once a staff writer for the Christian Herald, will be leaving her role as Chichester District Council's Public Relations officer at the end of September.
She lives in Worthing and will be responsible for the initiative's relations with the media as well as writing for the journals, magazines and websites produced by Fresh Expressions.
Norman Ivison, Fresh Expressions' Director of Communications, today welcomed Karen’s appointment: 'She comes to us with a wealth of experience, both in journalism and PR. She has sat on both sides of the fence and has a passion for new ways of being church, which is at the heart of all we do'.
Fresh Expressions encourages new forms of church for a fast changing world, working with Christians from a variety of denominations and traditions. It was initiated by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York with the Methodist Council.
The initiative has resulted in hundreds of new congregations being formed alongside more traditional churches.
