65 people gathered in the North Yorkshire market town of Skipton to learn about fresh expressions. 'So much of what was being discussed has been on my heart for years' said one person who went along.
Skipton Baptist Church hosted the vision day which took place on 26th September. Many people had travelled up to an hour to take part and they heard Fresh Expressions Director of Communication and Resources, Norman Ivison, talk about the way he believed God's Spirit was moving throughout the UK. Associate Missioner, Sally Thornton, asked those attending to write on a postcard, what they thought God was asking them to do. The postcards will be posted back in three month's time as a reminder of promises made.
Rob Harris is the senior minister of Skipton Baptist Church and summed up the day by saying that 'listening to stories of Fresh Expressions of church, it was clear that some have taken some very hard steps as they have moved away from the traditional aspects of what we do as church. But where people have had the courage to do so great things are happening.'
