(Media) West Midlands vision day

Date
Monday, 8 June, 2009

Churches across the region have been invited to a special day aimed at introducing Fresh Expressions, an initiative of the Archbishop of Canterbury and supported by the Methodist Church, at Amblecote Christian Centre, Stourbridge on Saturday 20th June (from 10.00am).

One of a series of national vision days, the day is an opportunity for local Christians to find out more about fresh expressions of church.

The day will be a rich mix of worship, stories, teaching, conversation and reflection. The vision and values of fresh expressions will be explored and guidance will be given on further training resources.

Andrew Roberts, Director of Training for Fresh Expressions, said today: 'We are delighted that so many people have shared in the interactive learning experiences that vision days offer.'

He added: 'The days have birthed visions, created appetites for further learning and built relationships amongst kindred spirits. We are always pleased to respond to requests for further vision days.'

The Fresh Expressions initiative has resulted in hundreds of new church communities now existing side by side with more traditional church congregations.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, recently spelt out the remarkable impact of Fresh Expressions on the wider church: 'The Fresh Expressions initiative has managed to hold together a resolute commitment to new forms and styles with an equally resolute refusal to write off the best of what we have inherited.'
