Zac's Place

In this month’s podcast, Alicia Baker visits Zac’s Place for a 'gloves off bible study'.

Zac's Place started as a pioneering 'church in a pub' venture in Swansea, South Wales in the Autumn of 1998 as a direct result of requests from bikers and musicians who wanted to know more about our faith, but could see little relevance of mainstream church.

A decade later, it continues to reach out to the community that surrounds it, weekly events include ‘Soul food', gloves off bible study and a soup kitchen that serves the city's rough sleepers.

More information and links can be found in the story of Zac's Place.

What's On

We have vision days in Wakefield (not Mansfield as stated in the podcast) and Glasgow in October, with a special rural vision day in Thirsk. If you would like to come along to any of these days you would be more than welcome. See the pages for each day above or email vision@freshexpressions.org.uk for further details.

We will launch msm in Bristol this coming month. If you'd like to know more about this course, or other msm centres across the country do visit the mission shaped ministry page.

We will also be at the Diocesan Synods in Peterborough, Gloucester and York so do watch out for us there.

And don’t miss the Fresh Expressions workshops at the Mission21 Church Planting conference in Bath, 17-19th November. Key Fresh Expressions speakers there will include Bob and Mary Hopkins, Pete and Kath Atkins and a special 'on the sofa' session with Bishop Graham Cray. Book via the Mission 21 website.

Building Church without a Church

Ten years ago, village planners decided a new village called Mawsley, set in lovely countryside near Kettering, didn’t need a church - but God had other ideas! Paul Seaton tells the story of Mawsley Church.

For more information and links, you can read the story of Mawsley Church.

Church on Tap

One Canadian congregation realised it was failing to reach those who found conventional church off-putting. Rob Hurkmans explains how Church on Tap came into being.
