Many churches are excited about the ideas in Mission-shaped Church (which has made a huge impact on the UK Church since its publication in February 2004, selling over 16,500 copies), but are unsure of how to apply these ideas to their own contexts. Help is at hand.
This short and accessible guide introduces the reader to the essential message of Mission-shaped church. Suitable for use with church councils, deanery synods, circuit meetings and house groups, it outlines how churches and groups can respond practically and creatively and move in fresh directions.
Additional material
We have provided some extra material here for group and church council settings. There are three presentations:
- The 'short' version is a summary to use if you are tackling the material in a single two hour session.
- The two longer presentations (Part 1 and Part 2) are designed to cover different sections of the material in more depth. Part 1 covers the material on pages 2-5 of the booklet.
- Part 2 expands and develops the material on pages 8-9 of the booklet. In particular we have provided pictures of the process and a bible passage to match each stage of the journey to help groups root their thinking more firmly in Scripture.
The presentations were prepared using Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 and contain extensive notes to accompany the slides. The notes will be helpful to you in leading a discussion, whether or not you use the slides.
There is also a participants' handout that gives the main headings from pages 8 and 9 and reproduces the Bible texts used in the presentation. If you put these together with the leaders' notes in presentation 2 you will have material for group Bible studies.
Please note: this item is a pack of 5 identical booklets.
